You're Closer Than You Think

I've been so busy over the weekend, so I was sort of glad that I had a YM conference with slightly less than half of my dysfunctional/crazed AdMU family. It was relieving…really. I mean, I'm still grinning from ear to ear with the conversations I had with Papa C and Sis M. har har (Pare, I am your father).

So what's the deal with me lately?

We went mall-ing yesterday and went to Comic Alley. My sister bought a Naruto/Sasuke mouse pad (which I'm using right now). I saw this really cool Naruto keychain which I wanted to buy. It's sooo cool--promise.  I'm still thinking whether I should buy it or not. I'll probably have a decision by Sunday. Hopefully, the nifty keychain would still be there. ^_-

I had  the lens of my eyeglass fixed yesterday. My eyeglass lens got scratched from one of the OrSem GDs last June, but I haven't found the time to fix it-til now. It's been one whole year since I last visited my ophthalmologist. Heck, I recently found out that eyeglass lens do have brand types (I thought brands/types were for eyeglass frames only. Sheesh. Talk about being so oblivious and it's been more than a year since I've had this pair of eyeglasses). I found out that the type of lens I had on my glasses were called NIX 1.5. If only you could imagine how I was laughing my head off deep down inside. It seems like wherever I go, I always see Bro's name. Harhar. I am being haunted by his name. Kidding. Peace out, bro!

I'm finally done with my ES10 and ES12 reports. I'm done with my Fil11 report, but it still needs work. I'm not yet done with my Lit13 paper-I have to revise it and possibly have it checked again.

After reading Margie's blog, I thought for a moment and kinda agreed with her on the type of friends we have. Here is my version on how friends are categorized:

First, we have the FAIR-WEATHERED FRIENDS. These are your friends who are always around you whenever life is good, and would leave you when times get tough. There are lots of fair-weathered friends out there. Those people who take advantage of you and leave you hurt in the end-that's them all right! Fair-weathered friends are those who always ask favors from you, but when you ask them for favors, they pretend not to know you at all. In short, fair-weathered friends are users. I tell ya, there's a whole bunch of them out there!

Second, we have the FILLER FRIENDS. I kinda agree that most of my blockmates would fall under this category and so do my other acquaintances. Filler Friends are the friends you hang out with when you don't want to look like a loner. You don't have much things in common, yet you sort of have bonds with these people. When you're all alone with no friend in sight and suddenly you spot one of your blockmates, even if you're not that close with that person (maybe a mere acquaintance), you'd end up hanging out with that person until a good friend of your arrives. Filler friends are always there. After all, no one is an island. No one can deny not having a Filler Friend. There's always a Filler Friend, somewhere out there.

Third, we have the COMMON FRIENDS. These are the friends whom you share some things in common. They may either be your English/Math/NatSci buddies, Org buddies, Varsity buddies, Convention buddies, Online buddies, Schoolmates, etcetera. Common Friends are the type of friends you have bonded with over a short period of time, primarily because, well, you do have something in common. They're fun to hang out with and all that, but the problem is, once you're no longer classmates with them, the relationship sort of deteriorates, and the bond you've once shared would then disappear. That's the sad fact about common friends. Most of them have expiration dates. When you no longer have the same classes, go to the same school, or have the same org as your Common Friends, these friends then become detached…they become merely acquaintances in the end. If you're lucky though, a friendship with a Common Friend could grow deeper, which would then lead us to the fourth type of friend.

Fourth, we have the CLOSE FRIENDS. These guys and gals are not really your Common Friends, and neither are they our best friends. I can say that most of my good friends belong in here. To be frank, I've never had a best friend. I've always had several close friends, but never a BEST. Your barkada, best friend (for some), and people whom you have a strong bond with can be classified into this category. Close Friends are awesome. They make you feel special and loved. They accept you for who you are, and never judge you according to your achievements. They're always there when you need someone to talk or listen to. They're there to give you a shoulder to cry on. They're there to laugh with you, they're there to cry with you. Close friends make the world a brighter place to live in. They bring joy into your life. With close friends, the relationship is always two-sided. There's always give-and-take, a win-win situation for both. That's why if you think you belong to this category, I wanna let you know that I LOVE YOU!

Last but not the least, we have the CONFIDANTE. Boy, are you lucky if ever you have one in your life. If you don't, I feel sorry for you. A confidante could come in the form of a best friend or a close friend-slash-diary-slash-psychiatrist. This category is exclusive. Not many people are confidantes in a person's life. Usually, friends who make the cut number around one minimum to 5 maximum. Usually. Anyway, a confidante is someone whom you trust so completely…someone whom you trust with your life. You know very well that your secrets would be safe with your confidante friend. A Confidante possesses the qualities of a close friend, but your relationship with that person grows even deeper (like, more than 10 times the relationship of that of a regular close friend). A Confidante is someone whom you can truly count on. It's difficult to explain what kind of relationship you have with a confidante friend. After all, it goes beyond words. The silence may speak for the words left unspoken. There's that bond with that person that you can't seem to explain.  I'm lucky and blessed to have found a couple of confidantes in my life.  You guys know who you are. I love you guys and I miss you soooo much! =)

If most of your friends fall under category 4 or 5, then you're one lucky duck. If not, then maybe you'd have to start choosing your friends wisely.
